Regional teachers affiliated with the Venezuelan Federation of Teachers will adhere to what has been decided by this institution at the national level, so they will not be incorporated into academic activities in September, either in person or remotely.
Luis Guillermo Padrón, representing the Carabobo section, indicated that the decision was made, after the national board of the federation made a consultation with the affiliates, about the situation they are going through in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic .
Speaking to the program En Contexto, which is broadcast by the Unión Radio station, Padrón reiterated that there is discomfort among teachers due to the low salaries they receive, since they are not enough to buy practically anything.
As he pointed out, there would be about 4,800 teachers in Carabobo who are willing not to start classes in September, in rejection of the precarious economic situation they are going through, although he warned that more could join the measure.
He cited that the government still owes teachers 280 percent of the benefits included in collective bargaining. He added that teachers cannot be required to work with their phones because they have no way to pay them due to their low salaries.
