An important source of Nitrogen (N) for rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the mineralization of organic compounds present in the soil, and the correct determination of the contribution of this nutrient from said compounds can contribute to reducing the dose of nitrogen fertilizer to use. The main objective of the study was to evaluate a laboratory methodology to determine the N mineralization potential of two rice soils, which comes from the residual effect of nitrogen fertilization in doses of O, 80 and 160 kg ha-1, through incubations. anaerobic with and without agitation. The study included field experiments and laboratory anaerobic incubations in soils of the Alfisol and Vertisol order, managed with rice monoculture. The incubations were carried out in 2 modalities; 7 days at 40ºC with constant agitation, and in periods 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days both at 20º and 40ºC. N extraction from field experiments was related to mineralized N, and the best incubation time and temperature for each soil were determined. The results indicate that the most suitable temperature and time for Alfisol was at 20ºC for 7 d, and for Vertisol at 40ºC for 21 d, in both cases under incubations without agitation.
