Sofia Vergara and Netflix are being sued for “Griselda” | MovieZine

The children of the cooking queen say that the miniseries uses illegal material and should be prevented from being shown.

A lawsuit has been filed against both Sofia Vergara and Netflix regarding the new miniseries “Griselda” which depicts the life of the “queen of cocaine” Griselda Blanco. TMZ writes that it is Griselda Blanco’s adult children, who are representatives of Griselda’s estate, who are suing Sofia Vergara and Netflix.

The children argue that the mini-series contains unauthorized use of the family’s image and likeness. This excludes their mother, who is to be classified as a publicly known person.

In the lawsuit, Griselda’s son claims, Michael Sepulveda Blanco, that for several years he did interviews for a project about him and his famous mother. The project then began to be pitched around Hollywood in 2016. According to the son, Netflix was interested in it but did not want to use the material from his interviews.

However, the son claims that the mini-series “Griselda” still uses his stories and material without receiving any compensation for it.

– This is not the first time for me. The Escobar family said similar things, says “Griselda” series creator Eric Newman, who is also behind the crime drama “Narcos” about Pablo Escobar, to Entertainment Tonight.

– We had a very specific story that we wanted to tell. I think we told it and I don’t think that in any way prevents anyone else from telling their own version of it.

The lawsuit seeks, among other things, that the TV series, which premieres today, be prevented from being shown.
