From the night of the 15th, the cold air near Mongolia comes down strongly to the Korean Peninsula, and the temperature drops sharply. On the morning of the 16th, the minimum temperature was 11 degrees below zero to 1 degrees below zero, 5 to 10 degrees lower than the previous day, and a cold weather warning was issued in the central and northern regions. The Meteorological Administration explained, “With the cold air coming in more and more strongly, there will be many places where the temperature in the morning of the weekend is below -10 degrees Celsius in other central and southern inland regions.” The maximum temperature during the day is expected to be 2 to 7 degrees below zero.

The cold air meets the warm West Sea and makes the snow cloud stronger. From the night of the 16th, snow starts to flow from the west coast of Jeolla and Jeju Island.

It gets colder on the 17th. The minimum temperature in the morning is from -16 degrees to -2 degrees Celsius, the whole country is sub-zero, and the central inland area is expected to be below -15 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the daytime is -3 to 4 degrees below zero, and the wind is strong, so the perceived temperature will be lower.

From the 17th to the 18th, the snow clouds continue to grow as cold and warm air alternately enters. From the afternoon of the 17th, as the cold air coming in from the north weakens, warm air starts coming in from the west, and it collides with the cold air that has stayed in Korea and creates a snow cloud. In the morning of the 18th, the cold air coming from the northwest is expected to become stronger again, making the cloud belt stronger.

Snow is expected to expand from the west coast of Chungnam on the afternoon of the 17th to the metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, North Chungcheong, and inland Gyeongbuk. Snow is expected to expand to Chungnam and Jeonbuk on the morning of the 18th, and then gradually stop in the southern regions during the day on the 18th.

East Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon-do, and northern Chungcheong Province are expected to receive 5-10 cm of snow, and 2-7 cm of snow in the metropolitan area and other areas where snow falls. In particular, in eastern Gyeonggi and Gangwon-do, there is a possibility of snow that exceeds 15 cm in maximum.

The Meteorological Administration said, “The snow cloud zone is strong in the area where the wind hits due to the influence of the terrain, and the amount of snow can vary greatly by region, so it is good to keep an eye on the weather information.” You have to pay attention to traffic safety on your way to work.”

The air quality in the country is expected to be’good’ throughout the weekend due to the strong north wind. On the east coast, long-term drying warnings are issued, so care should be taken to prevent fires such as forest fires.
