Snoop Dogg will vote for the first time in his life in the US presidential election in November and will vote against US President Donald Trump. The 48-year-old rapper thought he was not entitled to vote because of his convictions for weapons and drug offenses, but found out that his criminal record was wiped clean, he says in an interview with the radio station REAL 92.3.
“I’m definitely going to vote, because we have to make a difference,” said Snoop Dogg. “I can’t talk alone and I can’t do it.”
The rapper has been criticizing President Trump for years. On the EP Make America Crip Again from 2017, the american president is depicted as a corpse, with all of his body except feet covered under an american flag.
In the United States, rules regarding criminal records and voting rights differ. In a number of states, convicted criminals automatically regain their right to vote once they have served their sentences, but in many states only after a complicated procedure or – for example, in the state of Florida crucial to winning the US presidency – not at all. In California, where Snoop Dogg lives, restoration of voting rights applies after serving the sentence and probation.
