Snapdragon 855+ and large photo module for less than 500 euros

The Realme brand wants to launch a new smartphone combining an ambitious camera module with a high-end processor, from last year. A leak reveals the characteristics of the Realme X3 SuperZoom.

Some brands have understood that an effective method to impose themselves on a market is to flood it with more and more references. Samsung, the Huawei group and Xiaomi are familiar with this technique, but it is Realme who recently adopted it. No sooner have we finished digesting the Realme X50 Pro, which more than convinced us during our test that here is another member of the family: the Realme X3 SuperZoom.

We owe this information to Roland Quandt for the WinFuture site, but the phone should soon be formalized by the brand launched by Oppo and the BBK Electronics group.

An always efficient processor

The Realme X3 SuperZoom appears to be a large smartphone, with its 6.6 inch IPS LCD screen with a definition of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The brand is therefore skipping the OLED which is more and more generalized on these ranges of smartphones. She also chose not to use the Snapdragon 865, but rather its predecessor the Snapdragon 855+. The latter is always very efficient and has the advantage of not requiring integration of the support of the 5G.

The SoC is supported in this Realme by 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 is also there, and it’s always good to take. A 4200 mAh battery and a 65W “SuperDart” fast charge.

Photo module with x60 hybrid zoom

The photo module is therefore the flagship component of this smartphone, which gives it its name. The Realme X3 SuperZoom integrates a module with 4 devices. The main unit is equipped with the Samsung GW1 64 MP sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture. We are also entitled to a telephoto lens with x5 optical zoom and 8 megapixel sensor. Realme should use these two devices to announce a x60 hybrid zoom for its smartphone.

The two additional sensors, 8 and 2 megapixels, would be much more incidental, and would be used in particular for macro photo mode.

That’s not all, we must not forget the two devices housed at the front in a common bubble, respectively equipped with a Sony IMX616 32 MP sensor, and an 8 megapixel sensor.

A price below 500 euros

According to WinFuture, the smartphone would be launched this week in Europe at 499 euros. A price that would place it below the Realme X50 Pro in the manufacturer’s range, but with only 100 euros of differences, difficult to perceive which offers the best value for money at the moment. We will have to wait for a test of this new model, or wait for the next one.
