Snapchat grows slowly but surely in Europe (despite TikTok)

Snapchat will end 2020 with growth of 6.8% (76.2 million users) in Western Europe, according to eMarketer estimates.
In the 2.0 universe Snapchat has to face not only its most staunch rival, Instagram, but also an increasingly vigorous competitor, who seems ready to destroy everything: TikTok.
Still, Snapchat will end 2020 with a growth of 6.8% (76.2 million users) in Western Europe, according to eMarketer estimates. With these figures alone at the table, almost 22% of European Internet users would be present on the social network led by Evan Spiegel.
Although the pandemic has fueled the growth of Snapchat in recent months, the “boom” led by TikTok has prevented this social network from growing more robustly. In 2020, the growth rate of TikTok has been particularly marked in countries such as France (88.7%), Germany (79.7%) and the United Kingdom (75.2%).
In this sense, the growth of Snapchat seems to be slowing down in the old continent and in 2020 it will be reduced by half compared to 2019, falling to just 1.2% by 2024.
The growth in the number of Snapchat users in the three main European markets (UK, France and Germany) is, however, at the expense of more than notable variations.
The United Kingdom is the European market in which Snapchat growth (3.4% to 16.1 million users) has been weaker in the last year, perhaps because in British lands TikTok has made a very strong stride over the course of the last months.

For its part, France continues to be the main European market for Snapchat and the third largest globally. In the neighboring country, the social network has 17.8 million users, the equivalent of 32.5% of Internet users.
In 2020 Snapchat has led to an increase of 8.4% in terms of the number of users in France.

More accelerated has been the growth of Snapchat in Germany. In this country, the social network has starred in a year-on-year increase of 16.3% to 12.2 million users.
During the pandemic 1.7 million new users from Germany landed on Snapchat.
