Snapchat buys AI Factory for 148 million euros

Snapchat expands its scope of application in the field of AI. The structure has just bought AI Factory, a company specializing in artificial intelligence and which has enabled Snapchat to develop its new functionality called Cameos.

The buyout is valued at 166 million dollars or 148 million euros depending on the site Century Digital visited by socialnetlink.

Cameos is a new feature launched by Snapchat earlier this month, with the goal of making deepfakes fun. Concretely, Cameos allows you to place your face on a short and funny video, a kind of personalized GIF. Currently limited to France, the Cameos feature could be launched internationally if users are convinced.

Snapchat recently told Techcrunch that: “our Cameos feature is not yet ready for the international scene, but keep your eyes open, we may launch it very soon“.

Socialnetlink.org is a French-speaking platform dealing continuously with current events and trends from the web, social networks, the digital economy, high-tech and the mobile Internet.
