Chinese manufacturer ZTE will soon be grateful to its compatriots Oppo and Xiaomi. The company announced the presentation on September 1 of a new smartphone model, the Axon 20 5G, proudly presented as the first smartphone on the market to integrate a camera under the screen. In 2019, Oppo was the first company to demonstrate a terminal equipped with this technology. It was quickly followed by a prototype from the Xiaomi firm.

The technical sheet of the device has not yet been released, but according to rumors the front camera is a 32 Mpx sensor hidden under an Oled panel of 2460 x 1080 pixels. At the rear, the Axon 20 5G would have two sensors of 64 Mpx and 8 Mpx. It is currently not known in which markets ZTE plans to launch this new product.

After smartphones incorporating a screen with a notch, like the iPhone X, or a punch, like at Honor or Samsung, then appeared devices equipped with a retractable camera system to prevent the front sensor from trimming the ‘display. Underscreen camera technology could be the next trend in the cellphone market.
