This is the first big shot of the Stade Malherbe Caen this season ! Ali Abdi, nine goals and two assists last season in Ligue 2, will commit to the Norman club. It’s just a matter of hours or minutes. Aged 27, he has been free from any contract since leaving Paris FC.
Versatile right side
Another center-forward at Malherbe? Absolutely not ! Ali Abdi is a goalscorer who evolves… in defense. He mainly occupied the right lane of Paris FC last season. But on the right, Caen has an obvious deficit since the serious injury of Hugo Vandermersch last season. But the Tunisian is versatile. Last season he also played left-back and midfielder.
Two successful years in France
Ali Abdi will have needed a first year of acclimatization to Paris FC to take the measure of French football. When he arrived in 2019-2020, he played 14 games. “I did not realize the level of the L2, I thought it would be easier, he confided in April in The Parisian. But when you arrive from Bled (sic), it’s a mandatory stop before aiming for L1. ”
Four selections with Tunisia
Before joining the PFC, Ali Abdi had never left his native Tunisia. He started in D1 at 17 years old near Kairouan before attending the clubs of ES Tunis, the Tunisian Stadium and the African Club. His Parisian performances earned him entry into the selection in March 2021. He has four games with the Tunisian team.
