Slightly fewer children in Utrechtse Heuvelrug are fully vaccinated | Newspaper De Kaap Nieuws

HILL BACK The share of fully vaccinated 2-year-olds has fallen slightly this year. In the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, 90.2 percent of 2-year-olds were fully vaccinated this year, compared to 91 percent in 2020. There was an increase nationally. Nationally, 91.3 percent of the children born in 2018 received all vaccinations from the National Immunization Programme. In 2020 this was 90.8 percent, according to figures published by the RIVM Thursday published.

The National Immunization Program includes shots against diseases such as whooping cough, measles and meningococci. Until last year, the proportion of 2-year-olds who received all these vaccines still decreased. About four in a hundred children have not been vaccinated against any disease from the National Vaccination Programme. In the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, 6.4 percent of 2-year-olds have not received any vaccinations, in 2020 this figure was still 4.4 percent.

According to the RIVM, the corona measures seem to have had little effect on the number of children who have been vaccinated. Read the message from the RIVM about the national trends here.

On the map below you can see per municipality what percentage of 2-year-olds in 2021 and in 2020 fully vaccinated (who have therefore gone through the entire National Vaccination Programme). In the pop-up (click on the municipality of your choice) you see the figures per type of vaccination (according to the diseases for which they protect the children), as well as the percentage of children who had not received any vaccination at that age.

The following vaccinations are included in the vaccination programme:
BMR > vaccination that protects against mumps, measles and rubella. Children aged 14 months receive this vaccination.
DKTP > vaccination that protects against four infectious diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus and polio. The vaccination is given to children from 6 to 9 weeks old.
Hepatitis B> vaccination against hepatitis B.
Hib > vaccination against HiB bacteria. Children are vaccinated from 6 weeks of age and the vaccinations are repeated at 3, 4 and 11 months.
Meningococci> vaccination against the meningococcal C bacteria given to children 14 months old.
Pneumococci> vaccination against pneumococci, which is given three times. Children receive their first pneumococcal vaccination when they are between 6 and 9 weeks old.
