Slavík and Hájková became world champions in fourcross

Thirty-four-year-old Slavík confirmed his affiliation with the narrowest world leader. Already in qualifying he set the third best time and on the way to the third gold in his career from the World Championships after 2010 and 2014 he subsequently won all elimination races. The second was the Frenchman Adrien Loron and the third the Austrian Hannes Slavik. Qualifying winner Mikuláš Nevrkla finished sixth.

On the contrary, Hájková received gold from fourcross at the world championship for the first time. It followed on from the previous two triumphs of Romana Labounková from 2018 and 2019, when the World Cup last took place before the coronavirus crisis. The silver was won by the Frenchman Mathilde Bernardová and the bronze by Anna Rojasová from Bolivia.

Gilloux won the title of world champion in the e-bike race on the third attempt after two silver medals. Among the bikers, the Swiss Göldi performed best. Both races were run without Czech participation.

Twenty-seven-year-old Gilloux was second at the premiere of e-bikes at the World Championships two years ago in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, and last year in Leogang, Austria, when he was defeated only by the increasingly brilliant cycling star Thomas Pidcock. This time, however, Gilloux managed a long-term duel with compatriot Hugo Pigeon and won by 18 seconds.

The third place came from the American Christopher Blevins, who surpassed the Swiss Joris Ryf in the fight for bronze. Blevins has completed a medal collection in Italy: he has gold from Thursday’s short track and silver from Wednesday’s relay. The ninth place was taken by the mountain bike giant Julien Absalon from France.

Göldi won 13 seconds ahead of Frenchwoman Laura Charles, bronze German Sofia Wiedenroth finished back another half minute.
