Skrekas: It is a constant battle against accuracy – 2024-03-09 18:26:35

For middleweight 15% price reductions in specific categories of products, due to the government’s measures from March 1, said the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas, speaking to the TV station SKAI.

“We had price escalation in household cleaners, detergents, personal hygiene products, baby diapers, baby milk, in 3,912 codes,” the minister said. In addition, he added that, from March 20, a similar measure will apply to menstrual products.

“Certainly we have products in which prices have fallen more and products in which prices have fallen less” he noted, while when asked about the reductions in baby milk he said that “we have put a profit ceiling on the companies that sell baby milk, and we saw prices drop by 15%, while a company that only sells baby formula to pharmacies has reduced the price by 30%».

Regarding the offers, Mr. Skrekas stated that “the three-month ban on promotional actions, that is, on product offers that have previously been repriced. It is another important measure that has prevented thousands of unjustified markups. This measure for the month of February has reduced the products, which rose in price by 80%.

The drastic measures to combat accuracy

For fresh products, he noted that the measure “net prices from the field to the shelf” which is also applied from March 1 is a measure that will also lead to reductions in the next period.

“We obliged all intermediaries who buy the products from the producer to the supermarket to sell on the invoices at net prices without discounts or service chargesn which ultimately blur the picture so that we can have transparency in the prices of the supply chain and control them much more easily for filthy lucre”, emphasized Mr. Skrekas.

“We are not complacent, nor do we say that we have solved the accuracy problem. The battle against punctuality is ongoing, but Greece has taken the most, the most drastic measures to deal with the problem”, underlined the minister.
