“Škoda’s Plans for Upcoming Electric and Internal Combustion Models: Superb, Kodiaq, Kamiq, Scala, and Octavia Updates”

During the week, the Czech car manufacturer Škoda released information about a total of six upcoming electric models over the next three years, but Škoda has been busy and news is also expected for cars with internal combustion engines – we know from slightly quieter and less loud announcements that we will expect the modernized Kamiq and Scala models this year .

Big news is expected in autumn, when two of Škoda’s current flagships will arrive, namely the new generation Superb and Kodiaq models. The new Superb will continue to be available in liftback and station wagon versions. The Kodiaq will still be a seven-seat SUV, but Škoda emphasizes that both models will be available with plug-in hybrid powertrains and will use “the latest petrol and diesel engines”.

Given the move towards electric cars by both Škoda and the entire Volkswagen Group, this will likely be the last generation of Superb and Kodiaq to use internal combustion engines. Production of the Superb has been moved to a plant in Bratislava, where it will be produced together with the new-generation Passat. As you know, it was Škoda that led the development of the new Passat – both Superb and Passat will be technically identical models.

Next year, mid-life improvements will be waiting for Škoda bestselleris Octavia, due next year feislifts. It is known that in 2026, Škoda will offer an electric station wagon that will be the Octavia’s counterpart, so the question remains open as to what will happen to the use of internal combustion engines in this very popular model.

Experts say that Škoda will not be in a hurry to abandon internal combustion engines – the Czech brand has taken over the development of the EA211 family of engines of the Volkswagen concern and will continue to improve them to meet the latest emission requirements. It is known that Škoda will attract about 150 people whose task will be to work on the development of these engines, so it is predicted that internal combustion engines will remain in Škoda cars for some time, at least in hybrid form.
