Skoda Cars: Most Reliable Models Revealed – Expert Insights

In past years, when new Skoda cars officially entered the Russian market, they quickly gained popularity among Russians due to their high European quality and affordable prices. Technical director of the Fresh automotive marketplace, Maxim Ryazanov, spoke about which Skoda models are considered the most reliable and which ones are best avoided.

First, the expert clarified the concept of “reliable” cars. In his opinion, these are the cars that do not require serious repairs even after driving more than 100 thousand kilometers.

“For example, owners of Skoda Superb, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Octavia rarely have problems: only 6%, 7.8% and 11.8%, respectively, contact the service after driving the specified mileage, while the average number of calls for the brand is 8 %,” listed Maxim Ryazanov.

He also noted that the reputation of the most reliable cars of the Czech brand is ensured by the use of a wide range of safety technologies and the presence of at least optional all-wheel drive, which works in conjunction with stabilization and course control systems.

Among the most popular and reliable Skoda models, which can still be found on the secondary market in good condition, the expert named the Yeti crossover, as well as the Superb and Octavia sedans.

“For example, the price of a Skoda Superb on the secondary market varies from 780,000 to 3,800,000 rubles, a Skoda Yeti – from 730,000 to 1,800,000 rubles, a Skoda Octavia – from 700,000 to 3,600,000 rubles,” said Maxim Ryazanov.

The most problematic Skoda representative, according to an auto marketplace specialist, is the Kodiaq crossover. For this model, after driving 30-40 thousand kilometers, it becomes necessary to treat creaking door handles, which begin to creak and are difficult to open. He also noted problems with the rear glass, which is prone to shattering, supplied by the Turkish company Sisecam.

“In addition, Skoda Karoq models that are not resistant to breakdowns include a ground clearance that is too low for Russian conditions – only 160 mm, which will certainly lead to problems with the suspension when driving off-road with passengers or cargo,” the specialist added.
