Škoda Auto to Launch New Compact SUV for Indian Market: #NameYourSkoda

Škodovka is preparing the upcoming novelty exclusively for Indian customers. The local market is particularly important for the car company, it first started importing European cars, then added models tailored to the Indian customer – the Slavia sedan and the Kushaq small SUV. Thanks to them, it saw growth of 18.5% there last year and recently celebrated 100,000 cars sold.

However, the campaign of Mladá Boleslav does not end there. In the near future, a new compact SUV based on the MQB-A0-IN platform (like the aforementioned siblings) is to be introduced, which should further boost the brand’s sales. From 2026, Skoda would like to sell 100,000 cars a year in India.

The news is still shrouded in mystery. Škoda revealed that it will be a car with a length of up to four meters, because they are subject to price concessions in India, which should also bring a nice purchase price tag. And why another SUV? The reason is simple. “It’s a key segment that makes up more than half of the market. Together with the Kushaq and Kodiaq models, we will have an even better portfolio of SUVs in India,” said Martin Jahn, member of the Škoda Auto board of directors.

Kushaq has established itself well on the Indian market, and Škoda often revives its offer with various limited editions.

And what will the brand new model be called? Even the car company itself does not know this yet. She invited Indian motorists to contribute their suggestions and thus choose the name of the new car. You can follow their ideas on social networks under the hashtag #NameYourSkoda. So far, we have only skimmed through them and haven’t come across anything world-shattering.

But everything has its time. The new SUV will hit Indian roads only in the first half of 2025, but the official premiere could still happen this year. It will be a car developed and manufactured in India, with which Škoda wants to further strengthen its position there. But it doesn’t end there either, by 2030 it would like to become the best-selling European brand here and, together with the other car companies of the concern, gain a five percent market share.
