Škoda Auto Leads New Car Sales in Czech Republic, Followed by Hyundai and Volkswagen – Sales Data Analysis

The number one is still Škoda Auto, which increased sales by 35.2 percent to 58,943 cars, the second Hyundai grew by 9.3 percent to 15,619 cars and Volkswagen increased sales by 8.8 percent to 14,632 cars. They are followed by Toyota with almost eight percent growth and Kia, which grew by more than five percent. The best-selling models are Škoda Octavia (16,978), Škoda Fabia (7,837) and Škoda Scala (7,271). Škoda models are also in the next three sales positions, followed by the Hyundai Tucson.

By business class, SUVs are the most popular with 44.6 percent. The most popular color is gray with 31 percent, followed by white and blue cars. The share of company cars in the registrations was over 75 percent.

In terms of fuel, gasoline leads with 66.4 percent of sales, the share of diesel is 25.3 percent. The share of vehicles with an alternative drive, i.e. electric cars or gas cars, is 22 percent this year. Most often, these are hybrid cars that combine classic and electric drive, with more than 25,000 cars. The share of purely electric cars increased by 0.73 percent since the beginning of the year and in September amounted to 3.38 percent of total sales.

Light commercial vehicle registrations rose by almost 28 percent to 16,001 vehicles. The first is the Renault brand with 2,394 registered vehicles, followed by Volkswagen and Opel. Truck sales increased by 23 percent to 7,899 units. The first is the Mercedes-Benz brand with 1,603 cars, the second is Volvo and the third is DAF. Compared to last year, sales of new buses fell by more than 44 percent to 548 vehicles. The first among buses is the Setra brand. Long-distance and intercity buses predominate, while orders from urban transport lag behind. Registrations of new tractors also fell, of which 4,530 have been sold so far, 8.5 percent less year-on-year. CF Moto tractors are the best sellers.

The motorcycle category saw a year-on-year increase of 4.4 percent to 23,269 machines. According to the association, sales are mainly due to the warm weather, which increased by more than 42 percent year-on-year in September. The first is the Honda brand with 6,217 machines, followed by CF Moto and Yamaha.

According to the forecast prepared for the association by the PWC company, the growth of new car sales will continue to grow despite the current negative economic situation in the economy, but its pace will probably gradually weaken in the next two quarters. For the whole of this year, the company expects to sell 215,000 to 225,000 new cars in the Czech Republic.
