The Apple Watch isn’t quite ready to transform into a mini wrist clinic just yet. In his newsletter Power OnMark Gurman doesn’t have much good news to share on the smartwatch health sensor front. First of all, the sensor measuring the temperature of the skin: rumor had hoped so for the Series 7, but ultimately not.
What about series 8 this year? The nosy of Bloomberg explains that nothing is less certain. He has certainly heard that this sensor is on the roadmap for 2022, but the development of this function is now said to be in slow motion; in other words, it is possible that the future Series 8 will not have a thermometer.
The blood pressure sensor, which we were just talking about at the end of the week to underline the difficulty of conception, would be even further. Gurman thinks it will take at least two to three years before he sees it tumble into the Apple Watch.
Finally, the glucometer which will be used to raise the level of sugar in the blood in a non-invasive way is not about to land either. The wait will be even longer than for blood pressure: ” I wouldn’t be surprised if blood sugar monitoring doesn’t happen until the second half of the decade. Gurman writes.

In the short term, Apple will have to play in other ways to improve its connected watch. The Series 8 should be available in a “hardened” version for the more daredevils, and there is also talk of a refresh for the Apple Watch SE.
