Ski Jumping. TCS: Piotr Żyła with great jumps during training in Ga-Pa

In Oberstdorf, Biało-Czerwon was disastrous. Only Dawid Kubacki was promoted to the second series, finishing in 28th position. Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, Paweł Wąsek and Jakub Wolny lost their rivalries in pairs and were eliminated after the first attempt. The sixth in last year’s TCS, Andrzej Stękała, did not even qualify.

The struggle in Ga-Pa was to decide whether the Polish jumpers would finish the competition in the tournament or leave the event and focus on preparations for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing. Two training sessions on Friday showed that the Biało-Czerwonych can still do good jumps.

Żyła flew the farthest in the first training. Five Poles in “30”

In the first of them, Piotr Żyła did the best, with the farthest jump in the entire field. The world champion from Oberstdorf flew 138 m and finished fourth. Kamil Stoch did not bad too, with a score of 126.5 m and was classified in 15th place.

In the first “30” there were also Paweł Wąsek (127.5 m), Jakub Wolny (126 m) and Dawid Kubacki (125 m). However, they took places at the end of the third ten. Andrzej Stękała, after a jump of 120 m, was classified in 44th position.

The Slovenian Timic Zajc triumphed in the first training ahead of the World Cup leader Karl Gaiger and the Norwegian Daniel-Andre Tande.

“Wiewiór” is in shape again! Stoch’s and Kubacki’s solid jumps

In the second training series, Dawid Kubacki finally fared well, leading for a long time after a jump of 127.5 m. Jakub Wolny flew as much as 132 m, but his score was slightly lower than Kubacki’s.

Andrzej Stękała showed a weak jump again, and Paweł Wąsek did much worse than in the first training, gaining only 120 m. Both Poles had no chance of finishing in the first “30”.

Piotr Żyła, however, does come back to his great disposal. The popular “Wiewiór” also fired a real firecracker in the second training and after a jump on 139 m he made it to the front of the pack.

Kamil Stoch made a correct attempt again, and a jump of 126.5 m again gave him a place in the second ten. The German Markus Eisenbichler triumphed in the second training before Piotr Żyła. Dawid Kubacki was 13th and Kamil Stoch 16th.
