Illinois authorities announced on Saturday the death in Chicago of a nine-month-old child, the youngest person known to have died of the virus in the United States.
The disease, which has already killed more than 4,500 people in the United States and more than 46,000 worldwide, according to Johns-Hopkins University figures which refer, is deemed to relatively save children, and very young victims are rare.
