Situation report on coronavirus COVID-19 in Uruguay (12/17/2020)


Epidemiological report:

According to information provided by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), today 8,695 analyzes were carried out and 547 new cases of Coronavirus COVID-19 were detected. Of the 547 new cases, 357 are from Montevideo, 91 from Canelones, 21 from Rivera, 12 from Florida, 12 from Paysandú, 11 from Maldonado, 10 from Lavalleja, 7 from Cerro Largo, 6 from Durazno, 6 from San José, 4 from Artigas, 3 from Treinta y Tres, 2 from Colonia, 2 from Rocha, 2 from Tacuarembó and 1 from Río Negro. Regarding the epidemiological trace, the outbreaks reported in recent days remain. In all cases, strict epidemiological monitoring is carried out.

Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 537,278 tests have been processed and 11,436 positive cases of Coronavirus have been registered throughout the national territory. Of that total, 7,406 have already been recovered.

Today three new deaths from Coronavirus were confirmed in our country. They are a 77-year-old patient from Artigas and two patients from Montevideo, 64 and 77 years old. So far there are 105 deaths from COVID-19 in Uruguay.

There are currently 3,925 active cases, that is, people who are developing the disease, 44 of them are in intensive care and none in intermediate care.

Of the total of confirmed positive cases, 887 correspond to health personnel. 658 of them have already recovered, 226 are suffering from the disease and 3 have died.

As of today in the 19 departments there are active cases.

CLARIFICATION: Yesterday the total positive cases confirmed to date was 10,893 cases of Coronavirus COVID-19. Today 547 new cases and a total of 11,436 confirmed positive cases are reported. The difference is explained by the fact that four foreign nationals tested positive and returned to their countries.
