Singer Neil Young threatens Spotify with the removal of his songs if he does not remove an anti-vaccine podcast

Neil Young is a strong advocate of Covid-19 vaccines as a way of fighting the disease and overcoming the coronavirus pandemic and this has been made clear to the Swedish streaming music platform Spotify.

It has done so through a warning in which it ensures that either the company withdraws the comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast or withdraws all his music from the platform. “I want you to let Spotify know immediately today that I want all my music off their platform. They can have Rogan or Young. Not to both”, the rocker has expressed in a letter addressed to his team.

Joe Rogan’s controversial podcast

The podcast Young is referring to is ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ a show that is exclusively on Spotify. Although it is one of the most listened to in the world, it is not exempt from controversy, among other reasons, for its anti-vaccine content also followed by many young people.

In fact, one of the episodes, an interview with Dr. Robert Malone, has been suspended on Twitter. for spreading false information about covid-19 and compare public policies against the pandemic with the Holocaust. For this same episode, 270 doctors have already sent a letter to Spotify in which they warned that it was allowing the dissemination of theories that damage confidence in vaccines and undermine scientific evidence.

Rogan’s is not just one more podcast for its content, but also because it is estimated that it cost Spotify about 100 million dollars sign the comedian to host their content exclusively. Since the pandemic began, Joe Rogan has chained controversy after controversy in this regard and already at the time of the acquisition of rights, the streaming platform eliminated several episodes for sexist and racist content.

“I’m doing this because Spotify is spreading false information about vaccines, something that potentially it can cause death of those who believe this information” Neil Young has also argued in his writing.

At the moment, Spotify maintains both the Joe Rogan podcast and Neil Young’s music and has not broadcast no comment about.
