“Hello Dad, my phone is broken. This is the new number you can save. Send me a WhatsApp message if you read this, SMS doesn’t work” or “Hello Mom, I broke my phone. My SIM was also broken , I can’t do much, but you can text me.” It is scammers who address potential victims with these or similar text messages.
