Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition got rid of two decades of errors! [VIDEO]

It’s pretty sad that Konami doesn’t even legally allow us to buy the game that the fans fix…

First of all, let’s clarify that we are not talking about the game in the scandalous HD Collection released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (Silent Hill 3 suffered even more from that release, but now it’s the second part), but its fans about the project, which shows how perhaps the strongest part of the franchise can hold its own even two decades later. Perhaps Konami could implement this itself, but there is as much chance of this as us winning the lottery.

So Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition, which itt is available, has reached version 2.0. This corrects a bug that has plagued this outstanding work of survival horror games until now. When the original Silent Hill 2 was released, like many other PlayStation 2>PC ports, it suffered from graphical glitches and lacked stability. This has also worsened as technology has advanced. The game’s audio streaming engine caused disturbing errors on multi-core processors (so essentially on all CPUs manufactured after approx. 2007). Missing sounds, which then slowly led to an outage. Because of this, all but one of the processor cores had to be disabled in the BIOS for the game to work.

The developers of Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition redid the sound streaming engine so that the game runs stably on multi-core processors. This is an outstanding result from them, and moreover, the stuttering is partly prevented by the new technology. Other graphical changes and bug fixes have also been made in the new update, so that James’ adventure in the city of Silent Hill has become even more modern.

The mod requires a copy of Silent Hill 2, which is not cheap fun, but since Konami really doesn’t sell the game on PC, maybe you can turn a blind eye to… other solutions.
