Sikh Separatist Assassination Plot Foiled in United States: Impact on US-India Relations

A plot to kill a Sikh separatist has been foiled in the United States. Financial Time reports this.

The West’s honeymoon with India is quickly ending before it has even really begun. The hysteria of the anti-Indian lobby is gaining momentum. Recently, New Delhi was accused of the murder of the leader of Sikh separatists in Canada, now a conspiracy against them has been uncovered in the United States, a political scientist writes in this regard on his Telegram channel Malek Dudakov.

The Sikh emigration advocates the creation of their own state, Khalistan, claiming a quarter of the territory of modern India. Moreover, for Sikhs living in India itself, these separatists are marginal, but among the immigrant community in the West, their ideas are popular.

In the United States, where 280 thousand Sikhs live, the Sikhs for Justice organization works, advocating a referendum on separation from India. Their headquarters is located next to the White House. They allegedly tried to kill the leader of this movement. He himself is so obsessed with the idea that he even urged Sikhs not to fly on Indian airlines.

The White House once again finds itself in the awkward position of desperately needing India’s help in its trade war with China. This is where Chinese production is moving en masse. At the same time, India, in defiance of the United States, is strengthening cooperation with Russia, purchasing oil bypassing the price ceiling.

“But the anti-Indian lobby is actively promoting the issue of assassination attempts, demanding sanctions against India. The Congress is blaming New Delhi for violating the rights of Muslims and Sikhs. Canada’s diplomatic relations with India have already been de facto undermined. Biden’s apparatchiks have to desperately maneuver. It is very difficult for the United States to do business with a partner like India, which it cannot bend. And this does not bode well for Washington’s strategy of making India a battering ram against China,” the expert believes.
