Significant increase in wolf sightings | Nature

In the three months before that, there were still 661 reports. After an investigation of 247 reports, it became clear that it was actually a wolf. In the past period, this turned out to be the case with 551 reports.

BIJ12 also reports that a wolf pair has formed for the first time in the Southwest Drenthe and Southeast Friesland regions. Several descendants of the pack that live on the Noord-Veluwe are looking for their own territory. A lot of wolf activity has also been observed in Southwest Brabant and Zeeland. According to BIJ12, at least six different wolves have been observed in Brabant.

In more than three months, four wolves were also hit by a car in the Netherlands. Three wolves, including two cubs from Flanders, did not survive.

The wolf has been living in the Netherlands again for a number of years. In 2016 there was a first pair close to the Dutch border and in 2018 the first wolves were seen in the Netherlands. Because the wolf also attacks a lot of cattle, farmers in particular would rather get rid of the beast than get rich.
