Siemens boss Kaeser against top managers’ waiver

Berlin. Siemens boss Joe Kaeser refuses to waive the wages of company executives in the corona crisis. “Lower salaries only increase the company’s profits and only an interest group benefits from them,” said Kaeser to the editorial network Germany (RND) – meaning the Siemens shareholders. The board wants to help those affected by the pandemic. “That is why we decided on an aid fund that addresses the needs of the vast majority of stakeholders,” continues Kaeser.

With the aid fund, Siemens wants to cushion the consequences of the pandemic for healthcare facilities and those affected by donations in kind and increase test capacities, said the CEO. “Siemens sees itself as part of society, which is why it is very important to us that we make our contribution to this crisis without neglecting corporate interests,” said Kaeser.

Employees are encouraged to make donations that the group will double. “Everything is of course voluntary and should only appeal to those who want to and can help in this historic crisis,” emphasized Kaeser. “The entire board supports the project. Everyone pays a substantial amount into the relief fund. ” Kaeser itself announced that it intends to pay one million euros into the fund.

The aid fund is part of a larger program with which Siemens wants to help those affected by the corona crisis worldwide, according to the Siemens boss. “For example, we have been organizing protective masks for hospitals and care facilities for a few weeks now. And we help manufacturers of breathing masks to speed up the ramp-up of production. We make our 3-D printing platforms accessible and enable our medically trained employees to work in health care facilities on a voluntary basis and if they continue to pay their wages, ”explained Kaeser.
