Sidekicks Thijs and Cielke immediately leave the afternoon show Ruud de Wild

Cielke Sijben and Thijs Maalderink have immediately stopped as sidekicks of Ruud de Wild on NPO Radio 2. The two could no longer be heard today. KRO-NCRV has not renewed the contracts of Cielke and Thijs. The broadcaster says it wants to give a different interpretation to the afternoon program on Radio 2.

“We informed Cielke and Thijs about this last Wednesday afternoon”, a spokesperson for KRO-NCRV told RadioFreak.nl. “It was decided earlier today that Cielke and Thijs will immediately stop at ‘De Wild in de Middag’.”

Cielke and Thijs therefore leave with a silent drum. “In recent years they have put together a fantastic program together with Ruud. We are very grateful to them for that. ”

Sidekick from first hour

The two sidekicks, who previously also independently made programs on Radio 2, will not return to the broadcaster for the time being. “Unfortunately, we do not see any opportunities for Cielke and Thijs at KRO-NCRV in the short term, but we would like to talk to Cielke and Thijs if they do arise in the future.”

Cielke has been a sidekick from the very beginning: she could be heard since January 2017, when Ruud started his afternoon show on Radio 2. Thijs Maalderink came later: he succeeded Martijn Bruggeman at the end of 2018, who then left KRO-NCRV.

Own program

Both Cielke and Thijs also previously had their own program on Radio 2. For example, Cielke presented since 2016 a night program and Thijs was in it for a while the weekend can be heard with the first aid show. What the two will do now is not clear.
