They are doctors, accountants or architects, liberal or self-employed. As of Thursday, July 1, they too will receive compensation in the event of sick leave. “It’s important for us liberals to know that we can count on it“, says Isabelle Berthé, sophrologist. In the event of illness or accident, the amount of compensation will be between 22 and 169 euros per day, depending on income.

Social contributions will therefore increase, by 0.3% for the liberal and 0.2% for micro-entrepreneurs. Certain wealthier professions, such as surgeons or accountants, already contributed to private provident funds in the event of illness. They will improve their social protection and partly finance that of the most vulnerable. “It will be a very low cost, we are talking about a few hundred euros of contributions per year“, assures Michel Picon, president of the National Union of liberal professions of France (UNAPL). To benefit from the reform, it will be necessary to have practiced in liberal for one year. Compensation will be paid from the third day, up to 90 days .
