In other countries, employers are playing an increasingly important role in supporting over-indebted employees. In Switzerland, too, some companies help out their employees. This can be useful, but it depends greatly on the type of help.

Tax debts, health insurance premiums due and consumer credit: Many Swiss are struggling with personal debt. That was forgotten during the pandemic as government bailouts and payment deferrals provided relief. The gloomy forecasts during the first lockdown in 2020 that a major economic and debt crisis was imminent were not confirmed (see chart).
