For many years now Apple collaborates with (RED), an initiative created by U2 leader Bono. Since then, Apple has designed devices in the characteristic red color that distinguishes this organization which fights against AIDS.
These devices cost the same, but when you purchase the Product Edition (RED) Apple donates part of the profits to fight this disease.
The first Product (RED) device was an iPod, and since then we’ve seen many of the company’s devices and accessories. Today, there are over 30 Apple Product (RED) devices for sale. From iPhone to Apple Watch, including bracelets, cases and accessories.
Over the past 14 years, our collaboration with (RED) has generated nearly $ 250 million in donations to fund HIV and AIDS programs
However, this color did not reach two other popular device lines: iPad and Mac. In 2020, the Apple Watch Series 6 debuted in red, but iPads and Macs have yet to release it.
Will we see an iPad or Mac (RED) product in 2021?
In 2020, the iPad, especially the Air line, released new colors like green, blue or pink, but red seems to resist. On the other hand, MacBooks are still only available in gold, space gray, and silver.
On the web we have many concepts that can be imagined what an iPad or Mac would look like in red. It’s a possibility that is now perhaps more open than ever, especially in the iPad after the new colors that have been released.
We have many Product (RED) cases for iPad, so it wouldn’t be strange if this was the next device to release this color. Maybe 2021 is a good time to see it.
We’ll see if the iPad and Mac at any point turn into Product (RED) devices, for us of course. We would like have this option among the colors available, and they would surely help to raise more money for this association.
