Shortage of steel threatens the machine-building business in our country with bankruptcies

The machine-building industry in our country is already suffering severely because of the sanctions against Russia, including steel imports, as well as because of the closed factories in Ukraine and the destroyed infrastructure of the country by hostilities. Many of the companies are unable to fulfill their orders and are forced to suspend their production, as the effect of the shortage is already being felt down the chain, BNT reported.

Many investors freeze their construction sites, and in a machine-building enterprise, which is among the largest employers in Ludogorie, are preparing for the worst-case scenario – layoffs. To continue producing agricultural machinery, this plant needs two thousand tons of steel a year. Saving on material is unthinkable.

“One of our products is 99% steel. As a material, it’s like bread flour,” says Rashid Uzunov, manager of an agricultural machinery company. Last time they bought a kilo of steel for three levs and 80 stotinki. Now they don’t even think about the high price because they don’t have supplies. On the other hand, they have three times more expensive electricity bills.

The EU will ban the import of steel from Russia, the export of luxury goods to Moscow

They will be published later in the day

“Our electricity is 40 thousand levs. We cannot accept orders, which will lead to staff reductions and unpaid leave until the time when this conflict will stop and the world economy will recover,” explained Rashid Uzunov. .

Until then, unemployment in our country it will grow and the economy will collapse, the Ruse Chamber of Commerce predicts.

“The boomerang is back, ie the sanctions are starting to affect our market. These companies will stop working, take people out of the job market and from there there will be a lot of difficulties for the state because it will pay for their stay.” , said Krassimir Enimanev – Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce – Ruse.

From the machine building industry they hope that the state will help them by ensuring the import of steel on a quota basis and at more favorable prices.
