Shortage at Katwijk GPs: Hand over mouth masks to your GP

Katwijk GPs have a shortage of mouth masks. The GPs ask all Katwijkers who have (packaged) mouth masks to hand them over to a GP. “Even if it is only one,” write the GPs together in a call. “We can then help more sick people with good protection.”

According to the GPs, wearing mouth masks is only useful for health workers. But in practice, there is currently insufficient stock. “For people who work with people who may have the coronavirus, face masks are very important.”

Healthcare workers mainly benefit from face masks with an FFP 2 or 3 code. But code FFP1 is also good. The dust masks from the hardware stores with such coding are also very welcome. For safety reasons, the GGD recommends that only packaged mouth masks be returned. Below are some examples.

Visit to the doctor
In addition, the GPs want to request everyone not to come to the practice unannounced. Due to the Corona pandemic, there is unfortunately much less opportunity for non-emergency care in the near future. This is better for you, your loved ones and your healthcare provider. They ask for your understanding.

What can you do yourself to help?

  1. Remains home if you suffer from a cold, sneezing, sore throat, cough or fever
  2. Please also indicate this if you call us for an urgent complaint that is not related to a fever or a cold. Be honest about that !!
  3. Call the doctor if you get sicker or breathe harder
  4. Are you older than 70 or do you have a chronic illness? Then call your GP or GP post immediately if you have a fever and cough or have difficulty breathing
  5. Do not go to your doctor without an appointment
  6. Avoid meetings with several people, or otherwise meet outdoors and keep an appropriate distance (= one and a half meters). This is even more true if you are over 70 years old and / or if you have frail health
