Fleischmann should take care of media issues for Chancellor Kurz and at the same time coordinate the communication of the ÖVP in the turquoise-green government.
The media agendas will remain in the future turquoise-green government in the Federal Chancellery at the ÖVP. Sebastian Kurz will therefore take care of media issues himself, and from his longtime spokesman and confidant Gerald Fleischmann (46) supports. Fleischmann becomes Chancellor Representative for Media Issues in the Federal Chancellery, the Austria Press Agency reported Monday evening.
At the same time Fleischmann continue to be responsible for the communication of the ÖVP side in the government and act as deputy head of cabinet of Kurz. Fleischmann had accompanied Kurz since his beginnings as Secretary of State for Integration and advised on communication and media issues. Under turquoise blue, he headed communications at the Federal Chancellery. He was the deputy head of cabinet and head of the strategic communications and planning department.
During the ÖVP-FPÖ coalition, media and culture were the responsibility of the then Chancellor Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP), who is now to become Minister of Finance. Meanwhile, the cultural agendas migrate to the Greens.
