Shoe retail chain Görtz receives state loan of 28 million euros

DüSSELDORF (AFP) – The shoe retail chain Ludwig Görtz receives a state support loan of 28 million euros to compensate for economic damage caused by the corona pandemic. The money was approved in April, according to a list of the Federal Ministry of Economics for the Economic Stabilization Fund (WSF). Wirtschaftswoche reported on it first. Görtz initially left a request from the newspaper unanswered.

During the Corona crisis, the Economic Stabilization Fund has already supported numerous companies, partly with loans and partly through direct investments. The most famous cases are Lufthansa and the tour operator Tui. According to the list, the department store group Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, the shipbuilder MV Werften and the steel producer Georgsmarienhütte signed contracts for aid from the state because of the corona pandemic. At MV Werften it is 193 million euros, at Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof around 460 million euros and at Georgsmarienhütte around 58 million euros.
