Welsh football representative David Brooks was diagnosed with second-stage Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The 24-year-old midfielder of Bournemouth’s English second league will start treatment next week.
Brooks was part of the Wales squad at this year’s European Championships. He dropped out of the nomination for the October matches of the MS 2022 qualification because the medical team of the national team diagnosed the disease.
“Although it was a shock to me and my family, the forecasts are positive. I am confident that I will fully recover and return to the playgrounds as soon as possible.” Brooks was quoted by the AP agency.
