The new US site will be located at North Charleston, South Carolina, and will have approximately 25,000 square meters (270,000 square feet). With initial investments of US$90 million, SHL is expected to generate an estimated 165 local employment opportunities. Operations are expected to start in 2024.

In 2019, SHL developed a long-term strategy in response to growing demand for autoinjectors and to meet future manufacturing needs. The announcement of the new US operation aligns with the company’s ongoing expansion, which includes a new site in Switzerland which is already being advertised. The new US production site, to be built on a preferential and accelerated basis, will offer fully automated production facilities and a flexible supply chain with reduced distance to major markets.
