When compared to other coach eras, the naturalization process during Shin Tae-yong’s leadership period has indeed increased quite rapidly. Because, there are a total of 10 players who are undergoing the process of becoming Indonesian citizens for the benefit of the Indonesian National Team.

This program started during the era of the Indonesian U-20 National Team which was being prepared for the 2021 U-20 World Cup. At that time, the figure of Elkan Baggott emerged, who is still a mainstay in the senior squad.

At this level, Shin Tae-yong has again added three players for the 2023 U-20 World Cup, namely Ivar Jenner, Rafael Struick and Justin Hubner. The first two names have officially made their debut with the Indonesian National Team, while the last one has just become an Indonesian citizen.

Apart from these four names, STY also received assistance from four senior naturalized players, namely Marc Klok, Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama. Apart from that, there are two other names who will follow, namely Jay Idzes and Nathan Tjoe-A-On.
