Janus van Kasteren, playing for Team De Rooy, made a solid impression during the first stage of the Dakar Rally 2020. The Dutchman started relaxed and drove around position five for a long time, but at the end of the stage he advanced nicely to third place.
At the end of the ride he only had to tolerate the Russian Anton Shibalov and the Belarusian Siarhei Viazovich. Shibalov benefited from the relapse of fellow countrymen Andrey Karginov and Dmitry Sotnikov, who for a long time held first and second place.
At the end of the ride, however, they were unable to maintain their peace and dropped back to fourth and seventh place. The top five was completed by the Czech Martin Macik.
Van Kasteren’s delay was only 3 minutes and 9 seconds behind number one Shibalov.
