For Sheryl Crow, it was the first milestone in her music career when she was hired by Michael Jackson as a background singer for his live shows in the 80s. Later the American even appeared in the music video for “Dirty Diana” and sang the duet “I Can’t Stop Loving You” with Jackson every evening for months for months.
As the 57-year-old said in an interview with “The Telegraph”, during this time she saw some “very strange” things that raised many questions for her. The singer did not look at the documentary “Leaving Neverland” – and did not want to make up for it either. In the HBO / Channel4 production, the two men Wade Robson and James Safechuck report their initial friendship with Jackson, who gradually drove the five and ten-year-old boys into a relationship of dependence and was said to have been abused for years.
“I haven’t seen the documentation and I don’t want to see it either. I was there when some things happened that seemed very strange to me and that raised some questions, ”said Crow in an interview with the British newspaper. However, she did not reveal more information about what she had witnessed. However, she too fell for the first time in Jackson’s charm and fame: “It was a crazy experience. I mean, he was the biggest star of the generation and I was allowed to sing a duet with him every evening for the next 18 months. ”
MTV Award still named after Jackson
While several radio stations removed Jackson’s music from the program immediately after the allegations and many public figures distanced themselves from him, one of the alleged victims recently criticized the way the situation was handled by music television. He thinks it is difficult that an MTV award is still named after Michael Jackson.
