A 73-year-old lady found no other solution than to unplug her roommate because of the annoying noise of her respirator.
The facts, which took place in Germany at the end of 2022, are challenging. Local media explain the situation: she unplugged the device twice, which led her roommate to intensive care.
The lady was arrested and charged with attempted manslaughter. Her 41-year-old son testified: “My mother couldn’t close her eyes because this oxygen machine was so noisy, it was like a tractor. She was exhausted and on medication. She had no idea what she was doing. But she didn’t want to hurt this woman. It was an act of desperation. She worked as a housekeeper for over 30 years, raised five children and was never at fault. Now she finds herself in prison, as a frail elderly woman with a serious heart condition. »
