Water shortage in Dakar and in the interior of the country: Seydou Guèye replaces the management of Sen’Eau

The communication advisor to the President of the Republic, Seydou Guèye, replaced the management of Sen’Eau for the duration of a program to explain the reasons for the water shortage in Dakar and the interior of the country. And it is to exonerate the new delegated company (by leasing contract) from the public drinking water supply service.

Guest of “Objection” on Sud Fm, Seydou Guèye points out “a conjunction of several factors”. “We are more than seeing this shortage. We provide solutions. I express my compassion and that of the government to the men and women, to the Senegalese households who have difficulty in having a correct supply of water in sufficient quantity and quality, ”he launched straight away.

But, he adds, “we must consider that we are in a peak phase of consumption due to the season”. According to him, “to understand what is at stake, it is necessary to know that there is a conjunction of several factors. First, we started maintenance work at Ngithie, which contributes 50,000 m3 of water per day. There are also dysfunctions of coastal drilling which have had problems with the supply of electricity. There is the weak force of the Mékhé and Kanète boosters. The pressure is low and it is difficult to feed Ouakam ”.

The Minister for Com ‘, who predicts a return to “a normal situation” in a few weeks, stresses that in terms of production, “we found 436,000 m3 of water on a kit of 450,000 m3. So we are at just under 14,000 m3 of deficit ”.

Besides, he insists on exempting the water supply company from any reproach, “Sones, which operates, has raised no grievances against Sen’Eau”.
