The Houtrust purification was shut down at 11 am on Monday due to a power outage. Nine hours later, the problem was resolved and a large amount of wastewater went into the sea untreated. Anyone who does go swimming has a high risk of stomach and intestinal complaints.

The negative advice applies to the Noorderstrand up to and including the Zwarte Pad and to the Zuiderstrand. Swimming would be safe at Kijkduin.
