A normal body temperature does not rule out having a serious infection. The choice to start with an antibiotic should therefore not only depend on the presence of a fever. This is one of the outcomes of Romy Schuttevaer’s doctoral research, which, among other things, investigated the value of presenting body temperature and comorbidity in patients with an infection.
