Severe Train disruptions at Gare du Nord and Montparnasse Due to Electrical Problems – Updated Information and Resolved Incidents

This Friday, June 9 at the start of the evening, the circulation of trains departing from and arriving at the Gare du Nord is severely disrupted due to an electrical problem. Another incident is also disturbing traffic at Montparnasse station.

Bad surprise for travelers who rushed to Gare du Nord at the start of the weekend. Around 5 p.m. this Friday, June 9, the circulation of trains departing and arriving at the station was completely interrupted due to an electrical incident. TER, TGV, RER and Transiliens are concerned.

In question: the tearing of a catenary, the set of cables allowing the power supply of the trains.

Around 6:30 p.m., the SNCF announced the end of the incident and the gradual resumption of traffic after an hour of total suspension.

At 8 p.m., the TGV victim of a power failure, stopped not far from the Gare du Nord, was being evacuated. According to the SNCF, the disturbance did not cause “no major delay” on the other trains, who adds that the delays caused are “about a few minutes” and can be caught up on the way.

A version very different from that of the users. On Twitter, some express the embarrassment caused by this stoppage of traffic and evoke a difficult return to normal.

Traffic is also disrupted on arrival and in the direction of departures at Montparnasse station. Around 5:30 p.m., a TGV on the Paris-Rennes line struck a bird 50 meters from the station. The SNCF indicated at 8 p.m. that the train had been repaired.

The delays are gradually being reduced according to the SNCF, which announces “at most 2 hours late” on some trains.
