Severe Thunderstorms Expected in Southeast Michigan on Wednesday Afternoon

Severe weather is expected to hit Southeast Michigan this Wednesday afternoon, according to 4Warn Weather. After a cold front moved in on Tuesday, Wednesday will begin cooler, cloudier, and calmer. Widespread rain is expected throughout the day, with the heaviest showers and thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. There is a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible, especially for areas south of the Pontiac/M-59 corridor. Heavy rainfall is also expected, which could lead to flash flooding.

The heavy rain is expected to continue overnight, with the storms not likely to push out of the area until the early morning hours of Thursday. Smaller rain chances will persist throughout the rest of the week and weekend, with spottier showers on Thursday and a few more showers on Friday, mainly late into the night. Showers and storms are likely on Saturday, followed by more sunshine on Sunday.

In addition to the severe weather in Southeast Michigan, dangerous heat indices are expected to build and expand across the Southern half of the U.S. for the remainder of the week and into early next week. The Northeast, which is already completely saturated, may also experience more rain later this week.

What are the expected temperatures for Southeast Michigan on Wednesday?

Get ready for some wild weather in Southeast Michigan this Wednesday! According to 4Warn Weather, a cold front moved in yesterday, and now we can expect cooler temperatures, cloudy skies, and a calmer atmosphere. But don’t let that fool you, because widespread rain is on the horizon, with the heaviest showers and thunderstorms predicted for later in the day.

Temperatures will be reaching the upper 70s to around 80 degrees, but there’s also a chance for some severe weather between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Specifically, we have a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph. Areas south of the Pontiac/M-59 corridor should be especially cautious. And if that’s not enough, heavy rainfall is expected, potentially leading to flash flooding.

The rain won’t be letting up overnight, and it looks like the storms will stick around until early Thursday morning. However, even after that, we’ll still have some smaller rain chances throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend. Thursday will bring spottier showers, while Friday will have a few more showers later in the night. But mark your calendars for Saturday, because showers and storms are likely to make an appearance. Fortunately, we’ll be treated to more sunshine on Sunday.

Now, let’s not forget about the dangerous heat indices that are expected across the Southern half of the U.S. for the next few days. Stay hydrated and find some shade if you’re down there. And even though the Northeast is already soaked, it might just receive more rain later this week.

To stay on top of all this crazy weather, be sure to download 4Warn Weather’s free app. It’s highly regarded and available for both iPhones and Androids. Just search for WDIV in your app store or click the appropriate link.
