Seven new board members at the Flemish Audiovisual Fund

On Wednesday, the full General Assembly of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) appointed the seven candidates, nominated by the Flemish Community, as director of the Flemish Audiovisual Fund. The VAF reports this in a press release.

In recent days there had been some commotion about the homophobic statements by Jef Elbers, the candidate who originally proposed Vlaams Belang for a seat on the board of directors. VAF chairman Kenneth Taylor even made it clear on Sunday that the General Assembly would intervene if Vlaams Belang did not withdraw Elbers’ candidacy. In the end Vlaams Belang folded and pushed it Monday Dimitri Hoegaerts emerges as deputy from Elbers.

The General Assembly appointed the seven candidates as members of the board of directors on Wednesday. It’s about Siegfried Bracke, Dennis Cluydts, Dimitri Hoegaerts, Anouk Mertens, Tim Raats, Ilse Schooneknaep and Dirk Vanhegen. “A next step in the renewal of the board is the appointment of four independent directors who, together with the seven directors nominated by the Flemish Community, will sit on the board,” he said.

The VAF would like to expressly thank the retiring members Anne Chapelle, Greet Claes, Anton Maertens, Johan Swinnen and chairman Kenneth Taylor for their efforts in recent years. A new chairman will be appointed at a subsequent General Meeting. That place may be taken by Siegfried Bracke, former President of the N-VA Chamber.

‘The VAF looks forward to the constructive collaboration with the new board to take up the many challenges it faces, starting with the new management agreement for the period 2022-2025 and the revival of the audiovisual and game sector’, it sounds.
