Seven Major Railway Stations in Beijing Implement Cooling Measures for Passengers

Seven major railway stations in Beijing have implemented various measures to cool down passengers during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, as they face the challenges of high temperatures and large passenger flows. The management committee of key station areas revealed that each station has adopted different strategies to ensure the comfort and safety of travelers.

At Beijing Railway Station, heat-relieving materials such as mineral water and warm boiled water have been placed in the taxi dispatch station and drop-off area for emergency use by passengers. Additionally, emergency medicines like cooling oil, essential oil, and Huoxiangzhengqi water have been prepared in the parking lot.

In the Beijing West Railway Station area, 10 temperature monitors have been installed in crowded areas such as the parking lot, subway hall, and dining area on the first floor. These monitors are regularly checked at 10:00 and 15:00 every day to adjust the air conditioner according to the ambient temperature. The aim is to maintain an outbound system temperature of 26°C to 28°C.

To provide relief at Beijing South Railway Station, the railway department has extended the air-conditioning operation hours of the east and west taxi dispatching stations to 24:00. Additionally, 14 fans have been installed in the waiting area of the online car-hailing service.

In the Beijing North Railway Station area, measures have been taken to reduce indoor temperatures. Three wall-mounted fans and two high-power floor fans have been installed in the queuing area of the taxi dispatching station.

At Qinghe station, water is being sprinkled in key areas such as the taxi dispatching station, the south underground parking lot, and the pick-up area driveway to cool down the surroundings. Mung bean soup is also being prepared at the taxi home, and parasols and ambulances are available in the passenger pick-up area emergency kit.

In the Chaoyang Station area of Beijing, electric fans have been installed in the underground online car-hailing waiting area, and the air-conditioning temperature in the taxi dispatching station area has been appropriately lowered. Additionally, 30 sets of awnings have been installed in the ground bus waiting area. The east square is continuously sprinkled with water in the afternoon to reduce the ambient temperature.

Lastly, in the Beijing Fengtai Station area, sunshade nets have been set up in the open-air reception area outside the southeast exit, above the southeast pedestrian corridor, and in the waiting area of the South Square bus station to provide shade for passing passengers.

These cooling measures aim to ensure the comfort and well-being of passengers during the hot weather and high passenger flow. The management committee of key station areas is committed to providing a pleasant travel experience for all travelers during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

8°C to provide a cool and comfortable environment for passengers.

Beijing South Railway Station has focused on improving ventilation within the station. In crowded areas, 900 cubic meters of fresh air per hour is continuously supplied to reduce the heat and ensure a fresh and comfortable atmosphere. The station has also implemented measures to reduce the heat emitted from the electronic display screens.

At Beijing North Railway Station, an intelligent air conditioning system has been installed to regulate the temperature in different areas of the station according to the number of passengers. This ensures that areas with high passenger flows maintain a comfortable temperature.

Beijing East Railway Station has set up cool mist fans in passenger waiting areas to help travelers cool down. Additionally, the station has provided free iced water and equipped its medical staff with heatstroke prevention supplies to promptly assist anyone suffering from heat-related issues.

At Beijing West Railway Station, the station management has taken measures to prevent and control heatstroke incidents. Medical teams are stationed at key locations to offer immediate medical assistance if needed, and heatstroke prevention posters have been put up to raise awareness.

Beijing Capital International Airport Railway Station has placed ice boxes filled with cold towels in the waiting areas, providing a refreshing option for passengers. Ice water and ice creams are also available for purchase.

Finally, Beijing Daxing International Airport Railway Station has installed automatic sunshades and cooling curtains to effectively reduce the heat inside the station. The station has also set up air-conditioned rest areas for passengers to rest and cool down.
