Sad news for all Sesame Street fans. Gernot Endemann, who played the taxi driver Thomas Sauer and the bicycle dealer Schorsch in the cult series, died at the age of 78. According to the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung, which refers to the family, he has suffered from health problems in the past three years. On Monday, he left life in his adopted home of Hanover.

The actor was put into an artificial coma after having a heart attack.
