Serious accusations in a Plovdiv school, the principal denies

One parent reports that in a Plovdiv school they collect the free food that is given to children and throw it away so that it is not taken home. He also raises the question of the quality of the snacks and seeks answers on how it is controlled. Last but not least, he insists that responsible institutions be activated and that the mockery of their children stop.

Look at the signal we received in the editorial office of Plovdiv24.bg from a parent of a child from “Bratya Miladinovi” SU in Plovdiv:

“I want to share my indignation at what is happening recently in the elementary classes of the Miladino Brothers school in Plovdiv. My son has long been explaining how the class teacher told them that the food he is given must be eaten within two hours. from distribution or thrown away, but not to take home.

Last week the children were given yogurt, but no spoon to eat it with. And since most of the children could not eat their own yogurt without a spoon, the class teacher collected the unopened milks to “throw away” !!!

And according to the class teacher, the principal ordered them to throw away the food two hours after it was distributed. The most interesting thing about this case is that the food is distributed in the morning at 8:00 and the big break is at 10:20 (when the children usually have breakfast) and it has already been two hours since distribution, coincidentally or not .

Therefore, as a parent, I would like to receive answers from the relevant institutions to the following questions: who controls the quality of the food that is distributed to children and why is it so quickly perishable? When does the food arrive at school and where is it stored until distribution, with that “critical” two-hour expiration date? Does the class teacher have the right to collect and “throw away” the children’s food? If you have this right, where exactly is this food “discarded”?

What is the guarantee that the food “thrown away” of one day will not be distributed again in the following days? And last but not least, isn’t it conscientious on the part of the class teacher to throw away the children’s food every day? There is a lot to be desired in terms of the composition and appearance of snacks, but what’s the point of paying money for something that will be thrown away?

I have also attached photos of one of the latest snacks, a mini pizza according to an “original” Bulgarian recipe, with lutenitsa and sausage (not clear which one). There is one type of content on the package, printed on the back and another on the label. Which is true, everyone can choose for themselves, but most likely neither. He doesn’t say the expiration date is two hours, but it’s probably best not to consume it at all.

Last week they also had tutmanik wrapped in greasy cling film. I hope that, through your media, the responsible institutions take action to stop this mockery of our children! Thanks in advance!”

Plovdiv24.bg contacted the director of the school, Galabina Materova, firmly firm on the fact that “the report was targeted and with false content”, she informed us that she had immediately convened a pedagogical council to familiarize her colleagues with the content of the report and to find out if there are such cases. Then call us to clear things up.

“Breakfast was never thrown away by our teacher. Yes, we warn children not to keep snacks, because they are still food. They cannot unroll them in their backpacks all day and then take them home. After all, they are the ones who come to them. breakfast provided They spend all day at school The idea of breakfast is to eat it now, not take it all day and finally take it home in the evening.

And the fact that children themselves throw food in the bins is already a separate matter. The report also says there were no spoons. Instead, they are even given additional spoons by the company providing the food. They are individually packaged. If the notice comes from a first-grader parent, it is possible that the teacher did not have a spare spoon. But in general, this is rare. But I have no such information that this happened, “Materova said.

He explained that none of the colleagues told the pedagogical council that there was a day when the yogurt came without spoons. “Someone would have said that if there had been such a day,” said the director, “suppose it was true, something had happened and the children had dropped them. But these are sealed milks and they usually whip them and drink them like that, “she added.

“In the hungry years of today it is absolutely impossible to throw away food, I guarantee you! It is also impossible to have today’s food available tomorrow. This is not possible. We cannot afford to give our children the old food. I guarantee. After all, these are our children and no one benefits from such a thing, “added the director.

In the school there is an ordinance issued for the times when children in different classes must eat. First class has breakfast during the first break between 8:35 am and 8:50 am. And older children – from 9:30 onwards. The school has a special room, which has permission from the Food Agency to store food, with a refrigerator, where it is taken home.

The check if the food is within the expiry date is carried out by the medical staff, of which there are two, one for the individual buildings. They come to work in the morning and do this check. Each breakfast comes with a certificate affixed to it. On the matter of the two labels being seen by the complaining parent, they may have latched onto another snack, but the labels have never been unsightly.

They are always in decent shape, as are the snacks. In case you notice something wrong, the class teachers report themselves. This happened in the years when measures were taken. There was also the case of offering a fruit of lesser weight, once again reported by the masters.

“So far we have not had any reports of poor quality food. Yet, we are talking about children, our children,” Galabina Materova once again said.

The school management kindly invites parents, should they find irregularities regarding food, to report them directly. It is easier to share the problem with the teachers in the class and look for a common solution.
